Alison Kelly is a contemporary British painter and printmaker whose work explores the elemental forces of human sensory experience, including gravity, space, balance and rhythm. Moving between representation and abstraction, she draws on natural and man-made forms, fragmenting and reassembling them through colour, line, repetition and layered texture.

Working primarily in oil on canvas or linen, alongside a range of printmaking techniques, Kelly balances intention with chance and intuition to create new visual relationships, tensions and rhythms. Her works invite an instinctive and immersive response, encouraging the viewer to experience them through sensation and emotion rather than fixed interpretation.

In their own words

“Pushing and combining print mediums beyond their traditional limitations, creating an inventory of marks unique to the language of print.”
