Caitie Thomas
London|Royal College of Arts
Caitie J Thomas is a London-based artist working across painting and photography. Her practice explores light, atmosphere and the space between certainty and uncertainty, with photography approached through a painterly lens and paintings developed through the changing qualities of light and shadow.
Working across linen, brass, copper and aluminium, Thomas treats material as an active part of the work rather than simply a support. She holds an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art and previously studied Theology and Art History at the University of Bristol. Her work considers light as an expression of hope, courage and the possibility of something beyond the immediately visible.
In their own words
“Exploring light—how it binds, permeates and dissolves all matter. Through photography and paint, abstractions emerge as light moves through layers of contrast, conveying human resilience and the search for luminosity in our darkest moments.”
