Colette Lavette

Oxfordshire|(b) 1992|Self-taught

Colette LaVette is a British artist whose practice draws on the decorative language of Rococo while exploring more instinctive and primordial aspects of human experience. Combining delicate colour, ornament and fantastical imagery with ideas of nature, sensuality and Primitivism, her work considers what it means to exist beyond societal structures and reconnect with our more elemental selves.

LaVette works with natural pigments and layered compositions in which figures, fabric and environmental forms merge and shift. Her work is held in private collections across the UK, US, Europe and Asia, and has featured in spaces including Raffles OWO Ballroom, La Fantaisie Paris, Paul Smith London and The Hoxton, Shepherd’s Bush.
