London|(b) 1987|Royal College of Art

John Huw Davies (b.1987) is a contemporary British painter, composer and musician living and working in London. His painting practice explores a synthesis between painting and music, utilising musical structures and organisational principles to inform a visual language, with works often painted in tandem with original musical compositions.

He recently completed the MA Painting programme at the Royal College of Art, and has exhibited with D Contemporary, The Hockney Gallery, Drifter Galleries and Vienna’s Amadeus festival, with upcoming group shows at D Contemporary and Gaudier gallery in 2027.

In their own words

“My practice is ritualistic, physical and process-led with the work encompassing an array of sources, mediums and applications. Heavily influenced by jazz and improvised music, my approach is reactive and often involves ‘circling’ a painting, forging connections between chance accidents and intentions.”
