Vân Khánh

London|City & Guilds of London Art School

Vân Khánh is a Vietnamese painter whose practice explores trauma, memory and healing through the body and the natural world. Informed by Vietnam’s history of colonialism, war and patriarchy, her work considers the psychological and physical experiences of trauma survivors, drawing connections between the resilience of the human body and the adaptive qualities of plant life.

Working primarily in oil, Khánh builds layered surfaces through diluted washes, impasto and soft sfumato transitions, allowing figures, landscapes and memories to emerge and dissolve into one another. Earlier gestures remain visible beneath the surface, reflecting the nonlinear nature of memory and recovery while exploring the space between rupture, resilience and repair.

In their own words

“My work maps the psychological landscape of trauma survivors, using oil paint as a somatic language.”
